Awareness Modules and Training Programmes for the year are planned based on demands from the field and the Agency's priority concerns. Programme modules have been designed for industry, entrepreneurs, extension workers, farmers, rural artisans and craftsmen, women beneficiaries in rural areas, urban homemakers, and general audiences and professionals such as architects and bankers. In addition to lectures and demonstrations by GEDA's experienced technical team, the programmes
information inputs are enhanced by audio- visual presentations and film shows. Programme modules are evaluated at the pilot stage to refine their design for effectiveness, and trainers are trained to create an extensive network of Renewable Energy Change Agents.
Celebrations viz. Energy Conservation Week, Sun-Day Celebrations and Cultural Awareness Programmes are designed to create a popular mandate for renewable energy and energy conservation.
Workshops, Seminars and Interactive Meets on aspects of technology development, policy, operation and maintenance, business development and entrepreneurship development are organised.
Rural women are considered a key target group as 90% of rural energy demand fulfills a very basic needs viz. cooking. Fuelwood is the main source of energy and as the forest cover is thin in Gujarat. Women and young girls bear the brunt of collecting firewood. Programmes for women are closely integrated with health, development and income generation efforts, as energy is not a priority concern for women.
Partners interested in collaborating with GEDA to organise Awareness and Training Programmes, or invite Resource Persons from GEDA to support Renewable Energy promotion in Gujarat may
contact us with specific details. Prior invitation, at least a month in advance is essential to facilitate GEDA's participation in locally organised activities and events.
