GEDA works through the MNES scheme to establish Energy Parks in Gujarat. The basic objective of this schemes is to provide technology demonstration and evaluation/study of NRSE systems at the field level. GEDA has also set up several Energy Parks at the grass root level.

Guidelines on District level Energy Park Scheme

• Well-known educational institutions, registered consumer forums, well established and registered NGOs with adequate facilities for science and environment education will be eligible for assistance under this scheme for setting up Energy Park in the State.
• One Energy Park may be set up in each District.
• District level energy parks may be set up only in technical institutions. At these institutions, technical experimentation and study of the systems installed may be carried out.
• Costing in the range of about Rs.1.00 lakh for small institution and Rs.10.00 lakh for major institution.
• The procurement and installation cost of the Energy Park systems and devices will be shared between MNES and institution concerned on 50:50 basis and such total Central Financial Assistance(CFA) would be limited to 50% of the cost of procurement and installation cost of the energy systems and devices.
• The energy systems and devices sanctioned for the District Level Energy Parks will be procured and installed by the concerned State Nodal Agencies. However, the full responsibility of operation and maintenance of energy systems and devices will be of organization/institution, where Energy Park is set up.
• The institutions may come up with a proposal of District Level Energy Park for demonstration/exhibition of NRSE devices. These District Level Energy Park proposals should be routed through State Nodal Agencies.
• 50% of the cost of the MNES share of district level Energy Park will be released initially along with the sanction of the project and further releases will be made only after some devices/systems installed and Progress Reports/Utilization Certificate submitted to State Nodal Agency.
• MNES will not give any financial support towards recurring cost of the Energy Park in the first year during installation. However, on request, MNES could consider the financial assistance for maintenance on case- to- case basis in subsequent years. Assistance of not more than 7% of the capital cost of the energy systems and devices may be provided as maintenance cost for a period of 4 years starting from 2nd year onwards.
