Major Energy Park Project at Gujarat Science City, Ahmedabad

Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA) is setting up a large scale State-level Energy Park Project at Gujarat Science City, Sola-Santhaj Road, Ahmedabad at total cost of Rs.158.19 lakh. The project is jointly funded by Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources (MNES)/ GEDA and Gujarat Council of Science City.

Aims and Objectives of the Energy Park:

Increasing consumption to severe energy crisis leading to severe environmental problems. The purpose of the Energy Park in the Science City is to create awareness on various energy sources, relative merits and demerits and issues relating to energy conservation. In the process, there emerges on need for harnessing  energy alternatives that are eco-friendly.

Objectives of the Energy Park are as follows:

  1. To educate people on various energy sources specially indicating the merits of renewable energy sources for meeting the growing energy demands.
  2. To highlight the need for energy conservation and recycling.
  3. To demonstrate the efficacies of renewable sources of energy through actual usage of such energy, and encourage people to use such energy sources.
  4. To create public awareness on issues relating to pollution and demonstrate how renewable sources help in lessening environmental pollution
  5. To promote sale of renewable energy devices.

The Energy Park Exhibits are classified according to five basic elements (Panch Mahabhuta) as propounded in ancient Indian philosophy. They are in reality outdoor installations sprawling over a large of 10,000 m2 for display and demonstration devices and 70,000 m2 for Energy Plantation. The technology areas of the Energy Park are:

  1. TEJ (Energy from the Sun)
  2. MARUT (Energy from Wind)
  3. AP ( Energy from Water)
  4. KHSITI ( Energy from Earth)
  5. VYOM (Exploration of Space)
