GEDA has realized the imperative role of a Renewable Energy
knowledge Bank required for the development these emerging technology since its inception in 1979. It has nurtured a Renewable Energy Resource Centre, which is today one of the major strengths of the Agency.
The collection has been developed with the objective of creating a knowledge base for research & development, project and programme planning and popularization and promotion of the technology. Today GEDA's Library facility is among the few Renewable Energy Collections in the country and only facility of its kind in Gujarat.
GEDA's Renewable Energy Resource Centre offers a specialized reference collection of Resources on Non- conventional energy sources and Energy Conservation. The Resource Centre includes resources on major and sub-disciplines such as Appropriate Technology, Economics, Environmental Sciences, Energy Management, Energy Conservation, Energy Conversion, Renewable Energy, Rural Energy, Solar Energy, Solar Heating and Cooling, Bio Energy, Biogas, Wind Energy, Waste to Energy, Improved Chulha, Hydro Power, Tidal Power, Forestry, Energy Plantation and Energy Education. It's collection has been developed to include intedisciplinary interfaces and applied disciplines such as Communication, Information Technology and Management. The collection would be automated soon for wider dissemination and easy retrieval.
At present the Resource Centre subscribes to 85 journals and has a comprehensive collection of about 10,000 books, reports and soft studies, 500 maps, 100 films and numerous pamphlets and other promotional literature. The collection has been built up in response to the reference needs of the scientific and technical community, the information support required by energy managers, policy planners and programme implementers at grass root levels. It caters to educational needs of students at the tertiary and school levels and professionals and consultants engaged in commercialization of RE technologies as also communication, promotion and education in Renewable Energy Technologies.
The resource centre extends inter- library loan facility to
institutions and organizations. The resource centre has extended beyond the role
of conventional library to ensure a wider use of its resources through an
appropriate packaging of information for the educational and promotional use. To

Library Services
