Two Days'
Orientation Program on Industrial Application of Biomass
Gasification Systems for Energy Auditors & Consultants (4-5
March 2005), Vadodara, Gujarat
Organized by
Gujarat Energy Development Agency
Govt. of Gujarat
Vadodara
Sponsored by
Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources
Govt. of India
New Delhi
BACKGROUND
Gujarat is an industrially advanced state. Pioneering initiatives
and experiments, for different applications of biomass gasification
systems have been undertaken in the State. There are a number of
small and big gasifier based systems installed in the industries of
Gujarat which are working satisfactorily. There exists a very large
potential for popularizing and promoting the gasifier systems in the
industrial sector of the state.
GEDA has been engaged in the Industrial Energy Conservation
Promotion Program for over two decades and has succeeded in
affecting energy efficiency improvement to a great extent. GEDA has
empanelled about 30 energy auditors and consultants for implementing
its Industrial EC Program. Considering the potential of the Biomass
Gasification Technology - as an industrial energy system, it is
proposed to utilize the services of energy auditors & consultants
for its promotion in the industries of Gujarat.
The two days' Program organized will give required orientation of
the developments in Biomass Gasification Technology in the country
and abroad. The program includes classroom lectures and field
visits, for educating the energy consultants about the potential
applications of gasifier system applications in the State's
industrial sector.
OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAM
1.To give basic orientation and knowledge about the Biomass
Gasification Technology and its application in the industries to
energy auditors & consultants.
2.To popularize and promote Biomass Gasification Systems as an
economically feasible alternative energy systems for potential
applications in Industrial Sector of Gujarat through these energy
auditors and consultants.
PROFILE OF THE PARTICIPANTS
Professionals, engaged in the business of energy consultancy and
industrial energy auditing, are invited for participating in the
orientation program. Energy auditors and consultants empanelled /
registered with GEDA, BEE, PCRA, Commissioner of Electricity, Govt.
of Gujarat and other private bodies that are engaged in promotion of
industrial energy conservation, from all over the country to
participate. Energy Managers from potential industries, such as
textile process, ceramic, sugar industries and all industries having
substantial thermal energy demand, can also participate.
The programme is designed to accommodate a
maximum of 50 participants in the program and so the registration of
participants will be on first-come-first-serve basis.

FACULTIES
Presentations will be made by experts from TERI, SPRERI, CES-DAM and
gasifier system manufacturers. Officials from MNES, IREDA, and GEDA
will make presentations pertaining to their respective promotional
activities. Industries using gasifier systems have been invited to
present cases studies during the program.
PROGRAM SCHEDULE & VENUE
The orientation programme is schedule during 4-5 of March 2005
between 10:00 to 17:30 hrs. Field visits have been organized on the
second day during the pre-lunch session.
The venue is Baroda (Gujarat) - also called `Vadodara' - the
cultural capital of Gujarat. Vadodara is centrally located and is
well connected with most of the country - by rail and airways.
Vadodara is coincidentally the home to one of the first gasifier
systems manufacturing industries of the country. A number of
gasifier based systems have been installed by in the vicinity of
Vadodara. The Sardar Patel Renewable Energy Research Institute (SPRERI)
a pioneering R&D institute working on development of Biomass
Gasification Technology is also located near Vadodara.
The programme will be held at Hotel Welcom Vadodara , which is
located in West Vadodara, at a distance of about 1 kms. from
Vadodara Railway Station.
