Renewable Energy devices that are already in the commercial market are being supported by government subsidies with the sole objective of creating awareness and making economically acceptable. The development efforts are required to make these devices self-sustainable, i.e. without subsidies. R & D efforts to make these devices technically simpler and economically affordable in comparison to their conventional counterparts, for catering to a large class.

The R & D Programme of GEDA was aimed at increasing involvement of scholars, scientists, R & D Institutions, Industries, academic institutions, etc. for affecting rapid development in this sector of energy. The R & D Programme of GEDA has facilitated a forum for joint development work for over two decades now. Many products that are in the market today are the result of this activity. Under this programme it was decided to support and encourage R & D activities pertaining to technological development, design improvement, field level trials/demonstration projects, surveys, cost & work analysis studies.

GEDA's policy is to encourage R & D activities and to create interaction between scientists, technocrats and end users of all consumer sectors, viz. domestic, industries, commercial and institutional sectors, with regard to growth of Renewable Energy devices and its market orientation.

GEDA, being a State Nodal Agency, engaged in the field of Renewable Energy for its promotion and popularization is also obliged to encourage R & D activities. We invite genuine R & D proposals from competent scientist/ scientific organizations.
