Tribal Area Sub Plan (TASP)

Scheduled Tribes population of 61.62 lakhs accounts for 14.92 percent of the total population in the State against 8.01 percent scheduled tribes’ population of the country. With a view to implement the strategy of Tribal Area Sub Plan, the approach of Integrated Tribal Development Projects (ITDPs) was evolved during the Vth plan, wherein thickly tribal populated talukas were covered. In Gujarat there are 12 Integrated Tribal Development project areas Viz. Palanpur (Banaskantha), Khedbhrahma (Sabarkantha), Dahod (Dahod), Godhara (Godhara), Chhotauepur (Vadodara), Rajpipla (Narmada), Bharuch (Bharuch), Mandvi (Surat), Songadh (Surat), Vansda (Navsari), Valsad (Valsad), Ahwa (Dang).

Gujarat Energy Development Agency, Vadodara implements schemes of various renewable energy based devices viz. Solar lantern, Solar photovoltaic home lights, Solar photovoltaic street lights, Biogas Plants, Improved Chulahas, Solar Cookers, Water pumping Wind mill etc to meet energy requirement of the tribal areas of the State with appropriate subsidy. Gujarat Energy Development Agency, Vadodara also promotes and popularizes various energy efficient devices under Tribal Area Sub Plan for conserving the existing energy resources. Government of Gujarat allocates separate funds to Gujarat Energy Development Agency, Vadodara under Tribal Area Sub Plan every year.
