GEDA Subsidy Scheme for Installation of Solar Water Heating Systems
for Domestic Application (2007-08) The Scheme
GEDA in its Vision and Goals Statement has resolved to affect
Energy Conservation through promoting use of Solar Water Heating
Systems in place of conventional methods for water heating in the
Domestic Sector.
A scheme for providing subsidy for installing solar water heating
systems in 3000 household in the state during the year 2007-08 has
been launched by GEDA.
Definition of Domestic Solar Water heating System:
A Solar Water Heating System consists of a Solar Flat Plate
Collector (FPC) of 2 m2 area with Cu-Cu tube and plate with black
selective coating for solar energy collection, housed in an
insulated box made of aluminum sheet & sections and a Cu/SS storage
tank duly insulated with necessary supporting metal structure &
piping for installation as roof top system.
The SWHS with single solar FPC is designed for heating minimum
100 litre of water upto minimum 60º C under winter conditions.
Eligibility Criteria for Applicant
Any individual residing in the state of Gujarat shall be eligible
for availing subsidy on maximum one system comprising either 1 or 2
solar collectors (FPC - flat plate collector) for residential
premises. The Applicant shall submit a Proof of Residence, in the
form of original copy of the latest “Electricity Bill” (for LFD-1
Type connection), issued in name and address of the applicant.
Subsidy for only one system would be sanctioned in the name of
the applicant.
Scope of the Scheme
- Domestic Solar Water Heating Systems (DWHS) with capacity of
100-300 litres per day, comprising of 1-2 nos. of standard size
(2 m2 area) solar collectors, manufactured as per specifications
prescribed by GEDA would be covered under the Scheme.
- Subsidy @Rs. 3500/- per collector, for systems with maximum
2 nos. of solar collectors, shall be given under the Scheme.
Systems comprising of more than 2 nos. of solar collectors shall
be eligible for subsidy under the scheme, for domestic systems
with maximum 4 no. of collectors. The subsidy amount shall,
however, not exceed Rs. 7000/- in any case.
- DWHS supplied GEDA authorized manufacturers would only be
eligible for subsidy under the Scheme. Applicants would be free
to buy systems from any manufacturer of their choice. There are
over 25 manufacturers authorized by GEDA.
- It is proposed to subsidize about 1500 domestic solar water
heating systems with approximately 3000 collectors under the
Scheme during the current year.
- Applications for Subsidy shall have to be submitted in the
prescribed format to GEDA through the authorized manufacturers.
Subsidy for only one system would be granted in the name of the
applicant as well as the residential premises.
- Applications would be processed on first come first serve
basis.
- The Applicant shall also give an Undertaking to abide by the
terms & conditions of the Scheme. This Undertaking is to be
signed & submitted alongwith the Application for Subsidy.
- The system cost would be as per the MRP declared by
individual manufacturer and accepted by the applicant.
- Subsidy sanction letter would be issued by GEDA in the name
of the applicant and installation will have to be completed
within stipulated time frame and reported to GEDA.
- The subsidy amount shall be released by demand draft issued
in the name of the applicant/beneficiary on submission of a
Joint Installation & Commissioning Certificate and site
inspection by GEDA or GEDA authorized inspector.
Authorized SWHS Manufacturer
Manufacturers who have obtained GEDA authorization will be only
be allowed to manufacturer and market SWHS under its Subsidy Scheme.
Manufacturers having adequate facility, infrastructure and
experience in manufacturing of SWHS will be eligible for obtaining
GEDA authorization.
