GEDA started implementing
NPIC programme from 1984 onwards. The objective of
the programme is to (1) conservation of fuelwood,
(2) removal / reduction of smoke from the kitchen,
(3) check on deforestrational and environmental
upgradation, (4) reduction of drudgory of women
and children from cooking in smoky kitchen and
collection of more fuelwood (5) reduction of
health hazards (6) reduction of cooking time (7)
and creation of employment opportunity in rural
areas.
