The Government of Gujarat has announced the Wind Power Generation Policy – 2002 in June 2002

Under this policy any industrial/non- industrial, manufacturing/non-manufacturing undertaking is eligible for setting up of a Wind farm in the state of Gujarat at the eligible sites.

The salient features of the Policy are as follows:

• Sale of electricity to GEB @ Rs. 2.60 / kWh with escalation of Rs. 0.05/year for ten years
• Wheeling of electricity for captive consumption within the state of Gujarat @ 4%.
• Banking of the surplus energy for a period of six months.
• Electricity generated exempted from electricity duty.
• Exemption from demand cut to the extent of 30 % of the Windfarm capacity.

GEDA is the nodal agency for the implementation of the Policy.
